Back to the chalkboard

Back to the drawing, er, chalkboard!

Not only am I obsessed with Gallery Walls...I'm also obsessed with chalkboards!

It all started a long time ago, when I first saw Miss Mustard Seeds huge chalkboard.

I love her style....I mean who doesn't!

Then I made a few chalkboards for my booth over the last few months, like these...

But want I really wanted a HUGE chalkboard just for ME!

And when I saw this huge, ugly picture at Goodwill one day for half price, just $7, I knew I had found my chalkboard. (Excuse the awful glare, this is the only before photo I could find.)

A couple coats of Salem Red Milk Paint, some distressing, and about 5 coats of chalkboard paint (painted directly onto the heavy cardboard type print) and wallah....an AWESOME large chalkboard for my kitchen!

And what about that menu??  My kind of meal. LOL

So, what do you think?  Are you loving chalkboards as much as I am these days?

  1. Look great! What knd of chalkboard paint did you use I tried to do a chalkboard right on the wall in my kitchen and it isn't great. I used the valspar chalkboard paint and followed the directions so I'm not sure what the deal is.

  2. I love chalkboards! I have a large antique slate chalkboard that my grandfather made when he rescued the old slate from the country school that my mom attended. I have others too. I'm your newest follower. Thanks for stopping by to see me.

  8. Thats so funny because I have been obsessed over chalk board and gallery walls as well! I have a post dedicated to chalkboard things I've done over the last few months...a bit of a sickness and I keep wanting to do a gallery wall on a large empty wall in my livingroom but just can't seem to commit to it. So I just keep saving pictures of other peoples lol.

  10. It looks great. I've been saving frames for quite some time so I can put a chalboard in one or two of them and put them in my new craft room when it's finished.

  11. Looks awesome. I've been working on quite a few chalkboards. I made mine out of the mirrors that were hooked to old dressers. That way I can add hooks to the bottom for extra function.
    Have missed you friend.

  21. Have you ever considered about including a little bit more
than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and
all. However imagine if you added some great graphics or video clips to
give your posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with images and video clips, this blog could certainly be one of the greatest in its field.
    Fantastic blog!
