My First Time!! HELP!! And a GIVE-AWAY!

I'm so excited about my first ever.......CRAFT FAIR!!! :)

I have always wanted to do a craft fair!  I've always enjoyed attending them...even when I was teenager.  Yesterday I found an ad for a local Holiday Bazaar looking for crafters and so I took the leap!

It's in Carmel...which is a much nicer part of Indianapolis!  It's at an apartment complex with 400 residence, plus they are advertising to the public, in print and online.

I am NOWHERE near ready!!!  I have until November 20th to get ready!

So, I finished my 'craft' last night, that I would like to sell at the craft show.  And I'd like your help!!  Basically, I'd like you to name my price!

Here she is, in all her glory:

I was planning to price it between $12 - $15.  My best friend said she'd pay up to $20.  What would you pay at a Holiday Craft Bazaar?

I have a couple other things I'm working on as well that I'll show you in the upcoming days.

ALSO, remember I mentioned on Monday's post HERE that I was planning to do a giveaway when I hit 70 followers...well, this is what I will giving away as well!!  :)

We are only 7 shy of hitting that number...so what the heck...let's go ahead and do it now!  It's close enough! :)

So, here's the criteria:

*  You must be a follower of my blog

You will have two additional chances to win, tell me in separate comments:

* What would you pay for this piece at a Holiday Bazaar?

* What other words or sayings would you be interested in seeing on a plaque like this?

THANK YOU for taking time to help me get ready for my FIRST TIME craft show!!

And good luck to everyone on the giveaway!  I will end the giveaway next Tuesday, October 26th at midnight EST.  Pass the word along! :)

Until next time...

  1. Ooooh! How exciting for you my friend! My only advice is to work diligently and not procrastinate.....now if any of my readers happen to read this, they will laugh because I'm a horrible procrastinator!! LOL!

Keep showing us what you are selling okay?

    Many Blessings,
    M.

PS - Signs like that go for $15.00 in my part of the country. I'd start there!

  6. No La-Dee-da, it's not vinyl! It's paper!!! :)

I used my Cricut and the new software I purchased (Sure Cuts Alot 2) to cut the paper with a free font I downloaded!

  7. Erin, it's cute! I always have a hard time pricing my stuff, I always think, what would I pay for this, and I am CHEAP. So I'm constantly underpricing things. I rationalize it by saying that I'd rather sell it for a few dollars less than have to drag it home. But I'm agreeing with everyone here, between 15 and 20 is a good price.

  8. $15-$20. Maybe do a couple sizes, and do small for $15 and big for $20???

  18. Hi Erin,
This is very cute and should sell well. I think $15.00 would be a good price.

I also wanted to tell you that I posted a reference to your blog today in a post...it is a take off on one of the Halloween ideas you showed us last week. Thanks!

  19. By the way, if you add eye hooks and a ribbon or rope, then I think $20 would be a very good price.

  22. Its really nice. Great job! I like the aged look.

I was wondering if you have ever visited Connie's blog Shady Creek Lane. She makes these wood block creations along with many, many other wonderful designs. She sells hers at a bazaar each year. Maybe she
can give you a real life price so that you don't underprice yourself.

Here is her blog address... http://mylifeatmidlife.blogspot.com/

  23. Hi Erin,
Thanks for stopping by my blog, your comments were so sweet.

Your 'family' block is very cute. It think your commenters are right on with the price. I would probably price it at $15. I like the idea that Zerique had about having two different sizes available.

Pricing has always been a tricky part of doing craft bazaars. Just make sure your work is high quality and people will pay a good price.

Good luck at your craft fair, but beware it becomes addicting.

  24. I love your sign! I would say $15-$20 is a good range. Best of luck at your craft fair!!

  25. What a pretty sign. I love the style and details you selected. Seems like $15.00 is a good price. I have been to a few shows and junk fairs and talked to some store owners and they all keep saying under $20 does not seem to scare people.

  26. I think between $15-$20 is about right, $18? At $15 you are sure to sell it, and $20 is what I would expect it to be priced.

  27. What a sweet sign and really, a great word that evokes so much meaning!

    ReplyDelete
  28. You could use words like: home, together, sister, brother, kitchen, cook, eat, clean, wash. Make up some for the holidays, thankful, joy, love, freedom, spooky, etc!

Hope you sells lots! Very cute!

  29. Hey Girl,

Don't know how I missed this one... But anyway, I think $18 is a good price AND as I've seen at the many, many craft fairs I've been to over the years, (I seriously need CFA- Craft Fairs Anonymous) in the last couple of hours of the show, knock a few bucks off (say, down to $15?) and they'll fly out of there. People love getting a bargain. (I knoww I do!) Hope you sell tons!

    Hugs,
    Martha

  30. Lots of good suggestions from folks already, but you might consider doing some of the same words but with different papers. Toile is hot right now and when it comes down to it, never goes out of style. Ticking stripe and florals are always popular choices too.

Just throwin' in my two cents! I know you're gonna rock this show!

    Blessings,
    Martha

  31. Okay, this is very cute and I think $15.00 would be a great price! I am a follower and thanks for your nice comments!

  32. Cute, cute, cute!!! The block-style signs sell from $14-$20 at craft boutiques I've seen. I paid $12 for one that looks WAY smaller than yours!! And I think the words "gratitude" and "thankful" would be great, especially this time of year!! I'm already a follower. :) Congratulations on your growing followers list!!! :D

  33. Congrats on taking the big step for your first craft fair! I was SO scared to do my first one and I felt so good once it was over and I accomplished something scary. I just did my 3rd in Friday and I'm a pro now : )
I'm no help on the price...I tend to be really cheap so people always say I don't charge enough for my stuff.

  34. I think the word "faith" would be nice. You could also do some holiday ones, like "ho, ho, ho".
