Bonus Project!

The project I'm showing you today is actually my friend, Joanie's, project.  I wish I had thought this up.  But lets be honest...I'm a great copier...but not so much at original ideas. :)

All the supplies were purchased at the Dollar Tree.  She, like me, LOVES the Dollar Tree for all things crafty!

She purchased a small carveable pumpkin, glittery fall stickers, and a double pack of birds (which she painted black to look like genious is that!), and ring spiders (which she painted glittery nail polish on!).

Joanie says the pumpkins are more of a styrofoam, than the material the more expensive ones are made from.  So, when carving it's not a smooth finish.  But she and I agreed, for this project, the 'bumpier' appearance actually works really well.

She spray painted the inside black, and basically arranged and glued everything to the inside.

Here is the finished project:

I don't have pictures of it, but she put a battery operated tea light inside when it got dark and it just glowed!

How fantastic is that!?

When she showed me I asked her if I could put it here on my blog.  She didn't think it was blog worthy...I totally disagree! :)

(Oh, and my 10 year old daughter took all the pictures!) :)

Until next time...

  1. Love it! A very different & imaginative way to carve a pumpkin :)

  2. I think it is a fabulous idea and it would be a great Thanksgiving idea as well.

  3. What a fun, different idea. I'm the same as you when I see something like that and think, "Now why didn't I think of that?"

I've been terrible about decorating for the holidays this past year or so, and it's high time that I got back on the ball. Posts like this one tend to give me that little boost of inspiration that I need. Thanks! Martha

  4. I really only decorate for Halloween and Christmas myself. I usually add one or two new items to my collection every year, but since blogging I've been OVER inspired to create more! ;)

Thanks for stopping by Martha and have a great week!

  5. Oh this is a super creative idea! Way to go, girlies!! Thank you for your kind words on my craft's so funny because we think EXACTLY alike on things! I wish you all the best on what you choose as'll be amazing whatever it is :D Hugs to you my friend!
