Holiday Bazaar Review

I know you've been sitting there just waiting for an update on my very first craft show!!

What?

You have lives outside of reading my blog?

Fine.  Be that way.

If it makes you feel any better, we don't plan to do anymore until spring.  So, you don't actually have to hear about another one for awhile. :)

Ok, so, we learned alot!  And we really enjoyed it!

We didn't sell a ton...but we sold a few pieces each.

It was REALLY small.  There were only 2 of us with handmade goodies!!

One lady had pretty potholders....and then us.

Two others didn't even show up or call!  Rude!

It was mostly what I would call home show vendors....like Stella and Dot, Pampered Chef, Scentsy, and a few others.

So, at first we felt very out of place!!  Here we are in swanky-ville...among home show vendors....with our kid (isn't she adorable...and just ONE WEEK after surgery!)....

....and our handmade goodies, that we weren't sure if they were 'good enough' or not in the first place.

For the first two hours, we had alot of 'walk by's'...no real action.

Then all the sudden people started warming up and talking and buying!  Plus vendors starting walking around and chatting.  And the vibe turned around!  We were so thankful!

Thank goodness Joanie was prepared...because I was NOT!  And nothing went right for me even the night before when I tried to crunch.  My Cricut wouldn't cut through the paper no matter what setting I put it on!  (Note to self:  You still need to work on that little problem!)

So, eventually I just gave up and had to wave the white flag.  But here are some pictures from our table:

As I said, we didn't sell much, but just selling 'something' made us feel pretty good.  All in all, we are considering our first show a success!

I have a couple custom pieces requested if I can find the right paper.

And Joanie had a lady talk to her about possibly having her put her flowers in her salon that's about to open!!

So, we won't complain....plus we learned alot!

Thank you for all your patience and help when it came to this show! You're the best! :)

Oh, and I have a few other things that were there at the show that I will show up in the 12 Days of Christmas starting December 1st! ;)

Until next time....

  1. Sound like things went fairly well. Its always so hard to know what to expect when selling your pieces. I'm sure your relieved its over, now you can relax! Pretty cool you got a few custom orders.. thats certainly a good sign!

  2. It's always a crapshoot when you're selling this way... You never know how much to make, or how much you will sell. I'm glad you had a good experience, the next one will be awesome!

  3. Isn't it good to know that you just never know what you can expect at things like this?! Maybe the trick is to participate in multiple shows over the season....that way you can look at the bigger picture. Either way, they are a lot of work so I'm happy to hear that you consider it successful!

    Many Blessings,
    M.
